This month, our Head Sommelier, Julia, takes us on a journey through the Rhône Valley, a region she recently visited, to explore its rich winemaking tradition.
Inspired by her trip, Julia has decided to showcase the Bréchet family heritage. Brothers Laurent and Julien respectively own the Château de Vaudieu in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the Domaine des Bosquets in Gigondas, both among the most prestigious names in these renowned areas.
White Wine – Les Vieilles Roussanne 2021 – Château de Vaudieu
Elegant and complex, this cuvée is crafted from the estate’s oldest Roussanne vines. It offers delicate white peach and orange blossom aromas complemented by subtle toasty notes from oak ageing—a perfect alternative to Burgundian Premier Crus.
Red Wine – Domaine des Bosquets Gigondas ‘La Colline’ 2019
This powerful and expressive red comes from the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail. Unusually for the region, the cuvée is 100% Grenache and showcases the climatic features of the appellation: altitude and limestone-based soils. The wine delivers layers of dark fruit, spices, and velvety tannins, making it a wonderful match for heartier dishes and rich flavours.
Join us this March to discover these two wines that reflect the passion and tradition of the Rhône Valley, personally curated by Julia to enhance your dining experience at The Don.
